Over the next few weeks Xcel will have contractor crews in Gilcrest inspecting our steel streetlight poles. They are inspecting these poles to ensure they are in good working condition and to test their structural integrity. This fundamentally is about keeping our residents and business owners safe.
1) Should Xcel find any steel streetlights that pose a safety risk (i.e., corrosion) their crews will remove that pole within 48 hours and immediately order materials to have the pole replaced.
2) If Xcel finds poles that do not need to be immediately removed but do need eventual work, they will order the materials for the pole and replace when those materials arrive. We expect these replacements to occur 120-180 days after the pole has been deemed in need and materials have been ordered.
They are working with the community to obtain necessary permits to conduct those replacements. What you will see as residents are Xcel energy employees inspecting and replacing poles. They are not solicitors and do have authorization to do their work. However, if you have ANY concerns, feel empowered to call the Town Hall main number and we will do our best to address your concerns.
Thank you,
Town of Gilcrest
