Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II Compliance
The Town of Gilcrest is committed to complying with all regulations under the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as well as State of Colorado Accessibility requirements. In 1990, the ADA was passed by the United States Congress and signed into law. This piece of civil rights legislation requires, among other requirements, that persons with disabilities be provided with equal opportunities to participate in society. The Town of Gilcrest is operated in compliance with the ADA for the benefit of all citizens of the Town of Gilcrest.
Title VI Compliance
The Town of Gilcrest complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The level and quality of services provided by the Town will be provided without regard to race, color, and national origin. Information in languages other than English will be provided as needed. ADA Reasonable Modification
The Town of Gilcrest makes every effort to ensure individuals with disabilities have access to, and benefits from, all services provided by the Town. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Town invites requests for reasonable modifications from customers with disabilities to provide continued access to Town programs, services and benefits. Reasonable modifications include changes, exceptions or adjustments to Town rules, policies, practices, and procedures, to provide all Gilcrest citizens with the opportunity to enjoy Town programs, events and benefits.
The following criteria will be reviewed to determine if a request for modification is reasonable:
- the request is not a fundamental alteration of the service provided;
- the request is not a direct threat to the health or safety of others;
- whether the request is needed for the requester to use the service or benefit; and
- the request does not result in undue financial or administrative burdens for the Town.
